Question about Hotkeys (AbilitySlot)

Is there any way to modify an AbilitySlot so that there is a better visual indication that the ability has not completely refreshed? Right now, you get the grey shadow over the icon which slowly fades away until the icon is completely visible. The problem with this is that abilities that take a while to refresh move very slowly and it is very hard to tell if it is completely refreshed or not without mousing over it to get the tooltip.

What I would love to see is the actual refresh timer displayed in the lower left hand corner of the icon. If that is not possible, is there a way to set a colored border or even just a transparent color over top of the icon until it has completely refreshed?
