I have a 16.1" widescreen on my laptop and of course use my own DroxyCore ui. Drox and CoreUI are also very easily manipulated to look stellar on the HD wide 16:9 resolutions.

BTW, your resolution isn't "odd" per se, it's just more common in multimedia entertainment than in pc's. Yay for Vaio laptops!
