EverQuest II has had 20 major updates (a couple completely changing the newbie experience), 2 mini expansions (adventure packs), and 2 major expansions. Its nothing like it was at launch, at least that’s what I hear from those people trying it again. Not trying to sell you on this game, just letting you know things have changed alot.
The map is still a static image however what is nice about the system is it allows interface developers to add their own maps and points of interest. I think that’s what people like about EQ2’s map interface. Sigil could go this route and improve upon it and I think you’d have the ultimate map system. In my opinion the more control you give interface authors in this area the happier every one is going to be.

did they ever change it from that static piece of #@$! that they went live with?
Wish List:
Easy Modifications.
A HIGHLY VISIBLE CURSOR(am I the only one who loses their cursor in spell effects?)
A REAL,CUSTOMIZABLE MAP,not a cutesy ,useless picture that you cannot update(think the EQ2 map where I said Cutesy, useless picture),Something similar to the EQ Map(IMHO one of the best in game maps I ever saw)
A UI that does not take up so much of the viewing area.(maybe working the UI around the perimiter of the viewing area, kind of like a picture frame -esque set up
By the way,I ran screaming from EQ2 after only a few Months, was amazed that a game could have so many bright points yet still disappoint like socks or underwear on Christmas for a child.I Pray to the Gaming Gods that this is not going to be another MMORPG that sets you up for a letdown(IE EQ2(do you get the impression I did not like EQ2?)
Did they ever make the map more than a picture?
